Vintage tractors will roll across the Isle of Wight later this month as the Vectis Vintage Tractor & Engine Club hosts 2 charity fundraising runs in support of local cancer organisations.
The first event – the ‘Pink Ladies’ Charity Vintage Tractor Run – takes place on Bank Holiday Monday (25th May).
The special run is dedicated to female drivers, with many participants expected to dress in pink while raising money for the Applegate Breast Cancer Unit & Support Group.
The 10-mile route will begin from The Old Smithy car park in Godshill at 10:30 before heading around the Arreton Valley.
A public pitstop is planned at Goddards Brewery between 10:50 and 11:45, giving visitors the chance to get up close to the tractors and meet those taking part.
The convoy will then continue along Arreton Road, down Merstone Lane, through Godshill and finish back at The Old Smithy at around 12:30.
A second charity tractor run will then take place on Sunday 31st May, raising money for the Isle of Wight Prostate Cancer Support Group.
Tractors are expected to arrive at The Eight Bells in Carisbrooke from 09:30 ahead of the 10:30 departure.
The route will take participants along Bowcombe Road before an off-road section around Chillerton Mast. The run will then continue through Shorwell, Brighstone, Mottistone, along Military Road and into Freshwater.
Drivers will stop at Alum Bay for a lunch break from 13:00 until 14:00 before travelling back through Freshwater, The Causeway, Yarmouth and Thorley.
The run is due to finish at Calbourne Mill at approximately 15:15.
Both events are organised by the Vectis Vintage Tractor & Engine Club and members of the public are encouraged to come along and support the fundraising efforts.
